Privacy Policy

Privacy for books you already own.

Lorely is a bring-your-own-book reader. This policy explains how we handle imported books, generated enrichments, analytics, beta emails, purchases, and optional cloud AI features.

What Lorely Is

Lorely is an iOS-first reader for books you provide. We do not operate a book marketplace, and the original EPUB you import remains the source of truth for your reading experience.

Books And Generated Enrichments

Uploaded books, extracted text, generated images, summaries, character context, notes, and other enrichments are private to the importing user. We do not publish, sell, or share user-imported books or generated book pages between users.

Lorely’s policy prohibits foundation-model training on uploaded book content. Verification of enabled providers’ contractual terms, retention, and account settings is pending; this is not a claim of verified zero retention or provider-wide no-training terms. Generated artifacts are stored separately from the original book.

Identity And Beta Emails

Ordinary app reading currently uses anonymous app or session identity, not email login. Waitlist and beta emails collected on the website are handled separately from reading and book data unless a future product change explicitly links them and this policy is updated.

Analytics

Optional iOS app analytics is off by default and starts only after your explicit opt-in. When enabled, PostHog receives future low-cardinality product events with pseudonymous app and installation identifiers, status codes, counters, timings, and bounded environment or build metadata. No earlier event history is uploaded after you opt in.

Product analytics must not include book text, selected passages, prompts, completions, generated content, book or chapter titles, author names, filenames, annotations, emails, tokens, secrets, or freeform reader content. Minimal Sentry crash and security telemetry is separately bounded and remains enabled. Read the dedicated Analytics & Consent Policy for the complete choice and data boundary.

Purchases

Lorely processes App Store and RevenueCat purchase state, transaction references, product identifiers, subscription status, and anonymous app identity to synchronize access and provide purchase support. Book unlocks are associated with the selected imported book. Purchase synchronization does not send EPUB text, prompts, or generated content. See the purchase terms.

Cloud AI Enrichment

Plain reading does not require cloud AI or a successful upload. When a connection is available, importing a book starts a background upload of the original EPUB and extracted reading structure to private storage. Choosing AI enhancement is a separate action. Generation tasks use relevant book excerpts, chapter context, and existing enhancements; image tasks may use the cover or generated images as references. Reading progress and book-scoped settings support synchronization and spoiler boundaries. Read the AI Features Policy and provider inventory.

Retention And Deletion

Settings provides cloud-data export and deletion controls. You can delete an individual book or all cloud data associated with your current anonymous app identity. Book deletion removes uploaded files, extracted text, and practical generated and derived artifacts. The export contains supported metadata and reader-safe generated content; it is not a backup of the original EPUB, prompts, or complete provider requests.

Cloud-data deletion does not cancel an Apple subscription or remove a separately collected beta email. Contact support for waitlist removal. Retention periods for provider backups, analytics, and payment records, and any legal retention exceptions, remain under review. Do not assume instant deletion from every provider backup.

Problem Reports And Feedback

Report a Problem lets you submit an optional description and separately choose whether to include bounded diagnostics. Diagnostics are off by default. Before submission, the diagnostic buffer is kept only in memory for up to 10 minutes and resets when the book, app identity, or environment changes. Submitted descriptions and diagnostics are private support data, available for 30 days and cleared at the next scheduled cleanup after expiry. They are not copied to product analytics or error monitoring.

Do not include EPUBs, private passages, prompts, passwords, or payment details in reports. AI-quality feedback is a separate explicit action; app-analytics consent does not grant permission to upload book content for quality review.

Website And Beta Information

Beta signup collects the email and optional preferences you submit to help plan invites and testing. It does not create a reading account. Website analytics and marketing attribution choices are separate from iOS app analytics; use the website’s Privacy settings to review its choices. Contact support to withdraw a beta request.

Your Rights And Review Status

Contact support for access, correction, export, deletion, or consent questions. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to object, restrict processing, or complain to a data-protection authority. The service operator’s legal identity, legal bases, processing regions, international-transfer safeguards, age requirements, and final retention periods remain under review. This provisional notice will be updated when those details are confirmed; it does not certify completed provider or legal review.
